Belgium imposes a constraint many foreign buyers discover late: for equipment used across the whole country, the instructions must exist in French and in Dutch. A Walloon supplier often delivers French only, a Flemish one Dutch only. The point takes thirty seconds to settle at RFQ stage, and costs an entire batch when it surfaces at goods-in.
It is also the market where the language border costs the most. A French-speaking buyer canvasses Liège and Charleroi, a Dutch-speaking one Antwerp and Kortrijk, and each ignores half a country where distances are measured in tens of kilometres. We canvass both regions in their own language: on PPE, the gap between a regional and a national RFQ frequently exceeds ten per cent.
Flanders concentrates distribution and import, with structures close to the Dutch model. Wallonia retains textile makers-up and marking workshops that are more flexible on small runs and personalisation.
